Macee Whitehead is the Owner and Creative Director of The Carroll School of Dance and Co-Founder of The IT Gurl LLC. From a young age, Whitehead developed a passion for dance as both an enjoyable pastime as well as a tool to mentor and empower. She began her career as a dancer in 1995 at Morton Street Dance Center and Baltimore Dance Tech under Stephanie Powell. Ms. Whitehead was employed by Karma’s Dance Factory from 2004-2009 teaching, Ballet , Modern, and African . In addition she was appointed the after school dance teacher at Southwest Academy from 2005-2009.Whitehead studied Ballet and Modern at Alvin Ailey’s Summer Intensive in NewYork, NY and Carver Center of Arts and Technology in Baltimore, MD. She went on to receive her BS in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore in Baltimore, MD. Whitehead is now studying for her MBA at University of Maryland University College.
Marisha M. – Teacher
Marisha McBroom started dancing at the tender age of 3 with the Deve Christian School of Performing Arts under the direction of Natalie Deve Williams. While dancing at Deve’s, Marisha had the opportunity to perform around the world including but not limited to Disney World, Euro Disney, Hawaii and Brazil. Marisha has also taken classes at Steps and Broadway dance Center in New York City during her tenure at Deve’s. In high school she was captain of the Mercy High School pep squad where she choreographed various hip hop routines. While attending the University of Maryland Eastern Shore she was apart of the UMES Diamonds dance group. Marisha is a trained dancer in various areas but her specialty is Modern and Hip Hop. Marisha believes her purpose in life is guiding the youth and her passion is dance, she believes that dance saved her life and would like it to save young ladies around Baltimore.
Kelly – Teacher
Kelly D’Addona is Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Kelly has been dancing since she was three years old beginning at Jane Lopoten School of Dance. She began teaching dance in the summer of 2010 at Merion Mercy Academy’s Summer Academy for girls. Her favorite styles of dance include ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical.
Kelly has lived in Baltimore for three years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Delaware in 2013 and began teaching in Baltimore City the following September. As a Kindergarten teacher at Thomas Jefferson Elementary Middle School, she began an after school ballet class for children in grades Pre-K through 2nd. The first class of twenty students has now, in year three, grown to two classes totaling over 40 students. She was very fortunate in the summer of 2015 to expand the dance program at Thomas Jefferson even further by collaborating with Macee and The Carroll School of Dance to begin a musical theater resource class for all students in grades Pre-K through Eighth. She is very excited to become a part of the CSOD as a teacher.
